My career has spanned a wide range of professional and personal interests. Broadly speaking, my areas of focus have sorted themselves out into a few different concentrations, which reflect the values and skills I bring to the psychotherapeutic work I do today.

I offer trauma & social justice informed somatic psychotherapy to a diverse, adult population. My work centers multiply marginalized individuals and works to support liberation from internalized oppression.
The Women’s Therapy Center, Berkeley, CA Faculty (2013-2018)
I served on the volunteer faculty of The Women's Therapy Center, a low-fee psychotherapy clinic serving a racially diverse population of women, adolescent girls, and transgender and gender nonconforming people. I developed curricula and taught socially-engaged psychotherapy classes to the equally diverse staff of therapists in training who served the community. I worked in a variety of ways in the course of my time with the organization (offering psychotherapy, teaching, serving on committees, developing programming, and shaping the culture) in service of moving the clinic towards being a powerful agent of racial and gender justice.
Kaiser Permanente, Oakland CA Behavioral Health Educator (2013-2015)
I taught psychoeducational classes to a diverse array of adult participants. I taught skills that help participants enhance their psychological health and well-being. These classes incorporated mindfulness-based practices, healthy communication skills, assertiveness training, self-care, relaxation skills, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to transforming depression, anxiety, and stress.

I offered trauma & social justice informed somatic psychotherapy in a private practice setting to a diverse, adult population.
The Women’s Therapy Center, Berkeley, CA Agency Therapist (2010-2013)
I provided ongoing psychotherapeutic services to adults, adolescents, and relationship partners, informed by a variety of modalities, including somatic, relational, psychodynamic, humanistic, expressive arts, and mindfulness-based approaches to psychotherapy. I performed client intake assessments, screening for suicidal ideation, substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental instability. I made diagnostic assessments, maintained clinical notes and financial records, coordinated and collaborated with other clinicians on behalf of my clients.
The Mosaic Project, Oakland, CA Staff Trainer (2007-2009)
I trained each new Logistics Coordinator for their social justice oriented Outdoor School Program. I assisted with training the Educational Facilitators. I offered general program support at the outset of each Mosaic Project Outdoor School season. I updated the Outdoor School’s organizational materials. I organized the inventory and resupply processes at the end of each season. I offered logistical consultation over the course of the year, as needed.

I provided organizational and logistical support to The Mosaic Project during their social justice oriented Outdoor School Sessions. I developed lasting organizational systems for the Outdoor School. I coordinated, organized, and inventoried The Mosaic Project's supplies. I provided logistical and teaching assistance to the Educational Facilitators. I served as a liaison between the different departments of The Mosaic Project. I performed in the role of a personal assistant to the Executive Director.

I supervised and co-facilitated groups of 4th and 5th grade students in The Mosaic Project’s Residential Outdoor School Program. I led the children and the teenage Cabin Leaders in an active, dynamic social justice education curriculum emphasizing empathy, cooperation, team-building, assertiveness, nonviolent conflict-resolution, open-mindedness, individuality, and respect for oneself and others. I facilitated sensitive discussions of race, gender, stereotyping, discrimination, and prejudice. I led educational activities, games, and group challenges. I taught the children meditative breathing techniques for the purposes of calming down and centering. I performed as a storyteller.

I taught movement, dance, and creative writing in an after school program for underserved middle school children. I organized students in writing and performing musical theater. I provided academic tutoring, mentoring, and support.

I wrote and performed poetry, touring all over the United States, Canada, Denmark, and Britain. I gave lectures, speeches, and performances for various universities, colleges, and organizations, including Yale University, Smith College, University of Arizona, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and the Vancouver Olympic Games. I gave interviews and/or had creative work published or showcased in numerous publications and on various major media networks, including The New York Times, NPR, The Jim McNeil News Hour, Pacifica, and The Village Voice. I taught poetry workshops and classes all over the United States. I co-facilitated self-empowerment workshops and assisted the director of WholeBody Wisdom: I co-facilitated self-growth workshops on topics such as assertiveness, communication, and growing healthy relationships. I participated (with the Director) in life-coaching sessions with individual clients, as well as with couples. I assisted with curriculum development, logistics, and organizational development of the business as a whole. (2003-2006)
I was a Student Teacher Poet with June Jordan’s Poetry for the People project: I facilitated poetry writing workshops at U.C. Berkeley, Berkeley High, and Glide Memorial Church.
